security

We take customer information security very seriously and therefore take precautions (including administrative, technical and physical measures) to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information. Footdisc.co.uk is registered as a Data Controller with the UK Information Commissioner's Office.

Payment Transaction Security
We do not store your payment details on our servers. Instead, for payment transactions we have employed the services provided by ProtxTM, a third party industry recognised secure payment processor. ProtxTM has achieved the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI), and they adhere to the most stringent levels of fraud screening, ensuring that our customer's details remain secure throughout the transaction process. If you telephone your order through or return a completed Order Form, your card details are keyed in manually on a terminal, however once the transaction is completed the information is deleted. If we are using your credit card as security on a trial frame we will charge your card the total amount due in the case of late/non returns. Once the transaction is completed the information is deleted.

All transaction information passed between our site and ProtxTM is encrypted using 128-bit SSL (secure socket layer - a secure message transmission protocol over the internet) certificates. No cardholder information is ever passed unencrypted and any messages sent to us from ProtxTM are signed using MD5 hashing algorithms to prevent tampering. You can be completely secure in the knowledge that none of the data passed from our Site to ProtxTM can be examined, used or modified by any third parties attempting to gain access to sensitive information.

Customer Personal Information Security
The non-payment information you provide such as contact details and any prescription details is stored securely in a hosted data centre. We use industry-recognized security safeguards such as firewalls, coupled with carefully developed security procedures to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration. We take care to reinforce the importance of our visitors' security and privacy among our employees. Our employees are trained and required to safeguard your information and, using physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, we restrict access to personal information to those employees and agents for business purposes only. Additionally, we use internal and external resources to review the adequacy of our security procedures.

You may help us by also taking precautions to protect your personal data when you are on the internet. You should change your passwords often using a combination of letters and numbers and make sure that you use a secure web browser.
